Bio / CV
Bill Kracke is … a designer
…although not by college pedigree. I have been designing for the printed page and the web for over 10 years. It all started with employers and friends asking me to layout newsletters and other printed materials. I never looked back.
I have designed fund raising kits for multi-million dollar capital campaigns as well as brochures, business cards, and letterhead for small businesses. I’ve created PowerPoint presentations, bookmarks, stickers, logos, pamphlets, flyers, banners, and more.
I primarily use the Adobe Suite of products to do my work. Other apps that show up now and again: Microsoft Office Suite (because you never really can get away)
… a developer
A Web Developer, specifically. I am solid in HTML, XHTML, CSS, and PHP. I am familiar enough with ASP.NET and JavaScript to confidently use them in projects. I am self taught, as so many “web guys” are.
I believe in good code: code that works and validates (and if it doesn’t validate, it’s for good reason). Code that is easy to develop and easy to maintain.
I believe you should be able to write your code in Notepad, but use tools like Dreamweaver and Aptana to maximize my efficiency.
I believe in supporting all modern browsers, and Internet Explorer back to version 6. And support means “it works and it doesn’t look horrible”, not “it’s pixel perfect to IE7″
I primarily use the Adobe Suite of products to do my work. Other apps that show up now and again: Aptana IDE (PHP), Notepad++ (for quick FTP edits)
.. a communicator
Communication is my passion. I design to make visual communication easier and more effective. Web Development is just good digital communication. I believe we all have stories to tell, messages to send and ideas to spread. In an era where web pages outnumber people and high-quality printing is available to everyone, your message should stand out. I’d like to help.
